BEIRUT — Seven people were killed and seven others injured in two separate traffic accidents in Mount Lebanon on Wednesday and Thursday, with five killed in Sibline (Chouf) on Wednesday and two killed in Amchit (Jbeil) on Thursday, according to the Lebanese Civil Defense and road safety organization YASA.

On Thursday, two people were killed and seven others injured when a van was involved in a traffic accident at the northern entrance to Amchit, in the Jbeil district, YASA and the Lebanese Civil Defense said. Civil Defense and Lebanese Red Cross teams treated the injured and transported them to hospitals, along with the bodies of the two victims.

On Wednesday, five people were killed when a pickup truck overturned at the Sibline–Wadi al-Zeina intersection in the Chouf district, according to the Lebanese Civil Defense. The accident occurred on the Shehim–Jadra road, where the pickup truck reportedly collided with several cars before overturning. Civil Defense crews carried out cutting and rescue operations to recover the victims from inside the vehicle, while other authorities transported the bodies.

Road safety in Lebanon remains a severe crisis driven by degraded infrastructure, unlit roads and widespread reckless driving, prompting crackdowns on speeding and other traffic violations by the Internal Security Forces.

Around 530 people were killed in road accidents in 2025, according to figures the ISF provided to L’Orient Today.
