BEIRUT — President Joseph Aoun and PM Nawaf Salam on Tuesday strongly condemned Iran's attacks on Gulf countries and Jordan, as well as the Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia, reaffirming Lebanon's solidarity with Riyadh, the Gulf states and Amman.
The head of state condemned attacks aimed at "undermining the stability of the Arabian Gulf region" and keeping the Middle East "in a permanent state of tension and concern."
"We see in these hostile acts clear attempts to keep the entire region in a permanent state of tension and concern, serving designs that do not wish well for our Arab peoples," he wrote, calling the retaliatory strike carried out by Yemen’s Houthi rebels against Saudi Arabia a "heinous attack" after Monday’s bombing of Sanaa airport.
For his part, Salam denounced the attacks as "a flagrant violation of the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity" of Saudi Arabia, stating that these attacks "cannot be justified under any pretext."
"The persistence of these aggressions reveals a dangerous desire to undermine efforts aimed at establishing security and stability in the Arabian Gulf," he said.
