The United States conducted a series of strikes on Iran, sparking retaliation from Tehran on U.S. bases in the Gulf.

Here are the latest developments:

Iran buries supreme leader

Former Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei was buried in his home city of Mashhad, state television reported, following a ceremony at which his son and successor was not seen.

The "body of the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution was buried in the memorial hall of the shrine of Imam Reza," state broadcaster IRIB reported.

Trump speaks to Netanyahu

U.S. President Donald Trump updated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Washington's latest "moves in the Gulf," the latter's office said.

"The continued coordination between the countries in various sectors was established," Netanyahu's office said in a statement on X.

Iran says defense HQ hit

Iranian state media reported that a U.S.-Israeli projectile hit a military headquarters on the outskirts of Bushehr, where its only civilian nuclear plant is located.

A U.S. defense official however said that Washington was not currently carrying out any strikes on Iran.

US says no major damage

Dozens of missiles and drones fired by Iran caused no significant damage or injuries to U.S. personnel, a U.S. defense official said.

They "were intercepted or failed to cause major damage," the official said on condition of anonymity, adding that there were "no U.S. injuries."

Explosions were heard over the Bahraini capital of Manama on Thursday morning and air raid sirens sounded for a third time after Iran's military said it had targeted sites in the Gulf kingdom as well as in Kuwait and Qatar.

Earlier, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they had struck "key infrastructure and facilities" at U.S. bases in Arifjan and Ali Al Salem in Kuwait, and Juffair and Sheikh Isa in Bahrain.

Israel 'ready to attack Iran'

Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel was prepared to resume its military campaign against Iran if needed, vowing to do so "with even greater force."

"The army is ready and on alert for a resumption of fighting, in order to regain air superiority and strike again... in Iran, to eliminate threats, including a third time if necessary," Katz said at a military ceremony.

Crowds mass for Khamenei burial

Thousands of people filled the streets of Mashhad — many waving the red flags that symbolize the search for vengeance in Shia Islam — as Iran's late supreme leader Ali Khamenei's body was transported there for burial.

The burial will be the final act of a multi-day funeral, after he lay in state in Tehran before being processed through the Iranian capital and the holy Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala.

Markets positive

Global stock markets were largely positive as investors rediscovered their appetite for tech names and brushed off a new volley of strikes between the United States and Iran, with oil prices falling slightly.

In New York, the main indexes closed higher, with the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite jumping 1.3%.

Jordan intercepts missiles

The Jordanian military intercepted Iranian missiles which triggered warning sirens, government spokesman Mohammad Momani told the state-run channel Al-Mamlaka on Thursday.

A senior military source at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces said in a later statement that eight missiles were intercepted in total, causing no casualties or damage.

17 killed in US strikes

Two days of U.S. strikes against Iran have killed 14 people and injured 78, Tehran's health ministry said on Thursday.

Separately, Ahmad Nafisi, deputy provincial governor of southern province of Hormozgan, said Thursday that U.S. strikes in the fishing port town of Sirik killed three people and injured 15 more, state TV reported.

Tehran-Mashhad railway suspended

The train service between the capital Tehran and Mashhad has been suspended after U.S. strikes, state TV reported, hours before Khamenei's burial in the holy city.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Railways blamed "a criminal attack by the U.S.-Israeli enemy" on the route and said it had dispatched repair teams, the state broadcaster reported.
