CMA CGM chairman tells Aoun group wants to expand Lebanon investments

During a meeting with President Joseph Aoun at the Baabda Presidential Palace on Monday, CMA CGM Chairman and CEO Rodolph Saade expressed the group's desire to expand its investments in Lebanon in the coming period, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The meeting, which also included the group's general manager for Lebanon and the Near East, Joe Dakkak, focused on the situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as CMA CGM's operations in Lebanon and prospects for expanding them.

According to NNA, Saade reaffirmed the group's commitment to maintaining its presence in Lebanon and expanding its investments and operations in the country.

Aoun welcomed the announcement, praising CMA CGM's confidence in Lebanon and its continued investment. He also stressed the state's commitment to encouraging productive investment and providing a favorable business environment to support the country's economic recovery and create new job opportunities.

CMA CGM, based in Marseille, is the world's third-largest shipping company. It owns a fleet of more than 650 vessels and operates 60 port terminals in 30 countries. The group has significantly diversified its activities in recent years by strengthening its logistics business and making several acquisitions in the media sector. In April, CMA CGM acquired 100% of Lebanese distributor Fattal Group.
