The U.S. military said it killed a senior Islamic State (IS) figure last week in Syria, according to a statement from U.S. Central Command released Wednesday on X.
"CENTCOM forces conducted a precision strike in northwest Syria on June 19, resulting in the death of a senior Islamic State official. This precision strike that killed Ali Hussein al-Oulaywi is part of ongoing U.S. efforts to disrupt and eliminate terrorists who seek to attack Americans abroad or U.S. territory," the statement said.
