BEIRUT — Accompanied by a delegation, Amal Movement official Ali Hayek visited the French Embassy on Tuesday, where he was welcomed by Ambassador Herve Magro. He delivered a letter listing the losses caused by the Israel's war on Lebanon since 2024, and requested support to help Lebanon "overcome its ordeal."

The delegation presented the ambassador with a letter regarding "the general situation in Lebanon following the ongoing aggression since 2024, the human and material losses it has caused, as well as the worsening humanitarian crises." Distributed by the National News Agency (NNA), the text calls for international support in order to "help Lebanon overcome its ordeal and restore security, stability, and prosperity throughout the country."

Hayek thanked "France for its support for Lebanon," highlighting its "central role in ending the war, reconstruction, and its backing in international forums."

Magro, for his part, reaffirmed "France's willingness and commitment to remain at Lebanon's side," noting the importance President Emmanuel Macron gives to the Lebanese issue. He assured that "France will mobilize all its capacities, in cooperation with Lebanon's friends, to support and assist it," while also praising "the important national role of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, whose role is essential and central."

Earlier in the day, Magro had already emphasized the need to ensure support for the Lebanese Army in the current context, during a meeting with army Commander Rodolph Haykal.

Southern Lebanon experienced relative calm since Saturday evening under the shadow of the U.S.-Iranian memorandum of understanding. However, the situation remains fragile: on Tuesday, Israeli gunfire killed two people in Nabatieh Fawqa, while an Israeli drone strike targeted a parked car in Braasheet (Bint Jbeil).
