U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff is en route to Switzerland for talks with Iran, U.S. media reported, after negotiations between Washington and Tehran were postponed.
Witkoff is traveling to Switzerland, Axios reported Friday, citing a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
His trip comes as ‘’the United States and Iran are working to get technical discussions back on track’’ following the memorandum of understanding signed Wednesday by the two countries, CNN reported, citing U.S. officials.
Trump envoy Jared Kushner is also expected in Switzerland for the talks, according to Axios and CNN.
Uncertainty remains over the start of the negotiations, which were initially scheduled to begin Friday in Switzerland, after Vice President JD Vance, who was expected to travel there, canceled his trip.
The talks, aimed at finalizing the agreement and advancing a durable settlement, have been postponed, and no new date has been announced.
The memorandum signed this week by President Donald Trump and Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian seeks to end a war that began Feb. 28 with U.S.-Israeli strikes that killed Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
