Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said Thursday, in a message on X, that he has agreed with French President Emmanuel Macron to work on holding two support conferences for Lebanon, one for "the army and security forces" and one for "reconstruction."
"Today I accompanied French President Emmanuel Macron during a visit to the Vivatech exhibition," which is being held in Paris. "We agreed on the need to work on gathering the appropriate conditions to hold two support conferences for the army and security forces, as well as for reconstruction," he wrote.
An international conference to support the Lebanese Army was set to be held in Paris on March 5, before the outbreak of war with Iran on Feb. 28, and in Lebanon on March 2, caused its postponement.
The head of government also said he had held talks on the repercussions of the protocol of agreement signed between Iran and the United States. "We held a meeting in the presence of the French foreign minister, during which we examined the outcomes of the G7 countries' deliberations with Arab leaders on the regional situation in general, and more specifically on Lebanon, as well as the repercussions of the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran," he added.
