As if offering himself an 80th birthday present, Donald Trump announced on June 15 that a preliminary agreement had been reached with Iran to end the war in the Middle East on all fronts.
Already electronically signed by both parties, the memorandum of understanding postpones major sticking points, such as the future of Iran's nuclear program, the reconstruction of Iran, or Tehran's support for its regional allies.
But Tel Aviv already considers that "this agreement is catastrophic for Israel," according to a senior Israeli official.
Does this episode marks a sharp break between Tel Aviv and Washington? What are the consequences of the preliminary agreement for Lebanon, particularly regarding the disarmament of Hezbollah? What does this agreement reveal about the future of the Islamic Republic, and more broadly about the balance of power in the region?
Given the uncertainty, many questions may arise. You can submit yours to our co-editor in chief Anthony Samrani, in the comments section of this article (for subscribers) or by email at: livechatolj@lorientlejour.com
