A personal dispute escalated into a physical altercation followed by an exchange of gunfire between a number of young men in the villages of Al-Mubayrakiyah and Ain al-Dahab in Akkar, leaving two persons wounded, including one seriously, according to our correspondent in the North.
Our correspondent adds that this clash followed a previous dispute between both sides, while the exact reason of the fight remains unclear.
An individual was injured by a gunshot to the head and was taken in critical condition to Abdullah al-Rassi Governmental Hospital in Halba, before being transferred later to one of Tripoli’s hospitals for further treatment due to the severity of his condition.
Moreover, another person was hit by a bullet in the hand and was transferred to Khalaf al-Habtour Hospital in the village of Harar for treatment.
Security forces arrived at the scene and began their investigations to clarify the circumstances of the incident and take the necessary measures, while tensions persist in the area following the clash.
In Lebanon, firearms are widely accessible and circulate extensively among the population, sometimes turning family or personal disputes into deadly confrontations.
