BEIRUT — Israeli attacks near Sour’s Jabal Amel Hospital on Monday killed at least four people, the Health Ministry said, adding that the toll could rise as several bodies remained under rubble.
The ministry said Tuesday that the strikes killed four people and wounded 127, including 39 members of the hospital’s medical, nursing, and administrative staff. Among the wounded were four doctors, 27 nurses, and eight administrative employees. Four of the injured remained in critical condition in intensive care.
Information obtained from first responders by L'Orient Today's correspondent in southern Lebanon indicated the death toll could rise to eight, as several victims remained trapped under the rubble.
The ministry said the attacks caused significant damage to several floors and departments of the hospital, as well as the parking lot. It also praised "the courage of the management and staff, who insisted on keeping the hospital open and continuing their humanitarian and medical mission despite unprecedented conditions of danger and violence."
A protest was held to denounce the attack, attended by Amal MP Ali Khreis and Hezbollah MP Hussein Jishi.
