Iran war reveals limits of Gulf military ambitions
While the Gulf monarchies have, for the first time, carried out strikes against Iranian targets, they are still far from being autonomous in conducting strategic operations.

This is not their first rodeo. From Operation Desert Storm against Iraq in 1990-1991, to the Arab coalition fighting the Houthis in Yemen from 2015 onward, and including Afghanistan in the early 2000s and Sudan, the Gulf countries are not novices in military affairs.However, they had never before directly confronted the threat that, in their eyes, the Islamic Republic represents.
