Over 4,000 additional U.S. troops, with the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group, and the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, are expected to be deployed to the Middle East in the coming weeks, according to the Washington Post.
This is in addition to the 6,000 troops aboard the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier, which also carries dozens of fighter jets and has arrived near the Middle East, in the Indian Ocean, as announced Thursday by the U.S. military.
The deployment will include the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, according to the report. This comes in addition to the roughly 6,000 troops aboard the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier, which carries dozens of fighter jets and has arrived in the Indian Ocean near the Middle East, the U.S. military said Thursday.
Despite the cease-fire in place, the U.S. military has continued to redeploy and resupply its naval and air forces in anticipation of potential future resumption of war. An U.S. official, who requested anonymity, told the Washington Post that the military is ready to resume strikes if the order is given.
The USS George H.W. Bush has joined the aircraft carriers USS Gerald R. Ford and USS Abraham Lincoln, which are already deployed in the region.
