Four people were killed by two Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip overnight from Monday to Tuesday, according to the enclave's Civil Defense and Al Jazeera.
"Three people were killed in an Israeli strike at midnight ... northwest of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip," said Mahmoud Bassal, spokesperson for the first aid organization. Israeli military aircraft also flew over the southern Gaza Strip during the night, AFP journalists observed.
In the morning, a Palestinian woman was also killed by gunfire from Israeli warships off the northern coast of the Gaza Strip, local Al Jazeera correspondents reported.
At least 72,553 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli offensive against Gaza, mostly civilians, since Oct. 7, 2023, according to the latest figures published Saturday by Gaza's Health Ministry. The tally includes at least 780 Palestinians killed since the implementation of a fragile cease-fire on Oct. 10, which Israel has violated daily. More than half of the victims, nearly 38,000 of them, are women and girls, according to the United Nations. This represents "an average of at least 47 women and girls killed every day," according to U.N. Women spokesperson Sofia Calltorp.
Earlier this month, two UNICEF drivers were killed by Israeli soldiers in the northern Gaza Strip, according to the U.N. agency.
Discussions with DP World to manage Gaza projects
Meanwhile, the 'Board of Peace,' an organization created and led by U.S. President Donald Trump in Davos last January to support the peace process and reconstruction in Gaza, has begun discussions with the Dubai-based public multinational DP World to manage supply chains and other infrastructure projects in Gaza, the Financial Times reported, citing three sources close to the matter.
These talks center on the possibility for DP World to partner with the 'Board of Peace' to ensure logistics for humanitarian aid and other goods entering Gaza.
