A new meeting for talks between Lebanon and Israel has been scheduled for next Thursday in Washington. The Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors to the United States are set to meet for the second time at the U.S. State Department, as part of the negotiation process initiated between the two countries toward an agreement. The meeting will focus on considering an extension of the t10-day cease-fire, (which took effect on April 16,) that could be extended to 20 days or one month. Meanwhile, Lebanon is preparing to form its negotiating delegation, led by Ambassador Simon Karam, which is expected to include a military figure as well as a civilian with technical expertise.Beirut wishes to maintain a small delegation for this phase, while Washington is pushing to expand it so that it better reflects the various political components.
