SOUTH LEBANON — The director of Hiram Hospital near Sour in South Lebanon, Salman Aidibi, on Wednesday condemned the extensive damage caused to the medical facility following an Israeli strike Wednesday morning on a building in Abbasieh.
"The attack against medical staff is an attack against what remains of human values in times of war," Aidibi said in a statement, calling on the international community to "fulfill its responsibilities and put an end to this dangerous Israeli escalation against civilians and health institutions."
He also condemned the fact that "the Israeli enemy, despite the announcement of a cease-fire, continues to carry out its crimes and daily aggressions, flouting all international laws and humanitarian conventions that prohibit targeting hospitals and medical teams."
This is not the first time that Israeli strikes have caused damage to healthcare facilities in Lebanon.
According to the health ministry, 20 emergency centers have been targeted since the beginning of the war on March 2, and six hospitals have been forced to close.
