BEIRUT — Nawaf Salam on Monday received a call from Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez, who expressed support for Lebanon's "territorial integrity and the decisions of the Lebanese government, particularly regarding the prohibition of Hezbollah’s military activities," according to a statement from the Grand Serail.
Sanchez also condemned attacks on UNIFIL forces and emphasized the need for required investigations to clarify the circumstances. He added that Spain remains committed to supporting the Lebanese people, announcing the allocation of additional humanitarian aid amounting to "nine million euros."
For his part, PM Salam welcomed Spain’s support on humanitarian and political levels, as well as its contribution to UNIFIL. He also stated that "the Israeli incursion into Lebanon, under the pretext of establishing a buffer zone or security cordon, was completely unacceptable, calling on Israel to cease its military operations and withdraw from the entire Lebanese territory."
