BEIRUT — A second U.S. military fighter jet crashed Friday "near the Strait of Hormuz," according to two American officials cited by The New York Times.

The sole pilot aboard the aircraft, "an A-10 Warthog attack jet," was later "rescued unharmed," those sources said, without providing details about the circumstances or location of the crash.

The officials noted that the incident occurred shortly after another fighter jet, an F-15E, was shot down over western Iran. One of the crew members was rescued by American search and rescue teams, who are still looking for the second pilot.
