BEIRUT — The director of Beirut Rafik Hariri International Airport, Jalal Haidar, spoke on Tuesday. He denied reports from some local media.
These reports claimed that many Lebanese politicians and bankers were at the departures hall that morning. They were said to be accompanied by their families.
The reports also claimed they were preparing to leave the country on private jets. According to the reports, they feared a rapid deterioration of the situation.
"These reports are false and entirely unfounded," the senior official said in a statement quoted by the state-run National News Agency.
