BEIRUT — Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar announced that the deployment of security forces across Lebanese territory will be strengthened in the coming days, without specifying if this measure concerns only certain regions.

“The presence of security forces will be increased in the coming days, and the number of incidents remains within reasonable limits. The goal is the safety of all Lebanese, regardless of their affiliations,” the minister said, speaking after a meeting of the Central Security Council, which he chaired at 10 a.m. in Beirut.

During the government’s daily meeting dedicated to monitoring the security situation, and as reported by Information Minister Paul Morcos, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that security would be reinforced in Beirut and other regions to prevent any problems.

Morcos also confirmed that the next Cabinet meeting will be held on Thursday, and that authorities are working to deliver humanitarian aid as well as diesel for generators in the displacement centers, which house over one million people displaced by Israeli attacks.

“The participants were also informed of the information minister’s contacts with the media to keep the media discourse free of any language of hate,” the minister added.
