Foreign Minister Joe Rajji expressed his "firm condemnation" of an alleged sabotage plot that members of Hezbollah are said to have carried out in Kuwait.
This statement from the Bustros Palace comes after Kuwait's Interior Ministry announced Monday the arrest of 16 people — 14 Kuwaitis and two Lebanese nationals — whom it claims are affiliated with Hezbollah.
According to the minister, this group "sought to destabilize the country's security and to recruit individuals." He added that several weapons, drones equipped with cameras and Morse code communication devices were seized.
A few hours later, Hezbollah categorically rejected the allegations from the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry and denied having any connections "with cells or networks in Kuwait," stating that these are "mere unfounded slanders" that it "entirely rejects."
The party reaffirmed its "constant and unwavering commitment to the security and stability of Kuwait as well as the security of its people," and said it hopes for "the best relations and optimal cooperation between Lebanon and Kuwait, both at the level of governments and peoples."
