The government is monitoring the delivery of aid to Lebanon and ensuring the continuity of services with the relevant ministers, Information Minister Paul Morcos said Saturday following the daily ministerial meeting established in the wake of the war between Israel and Hezbollah, according to the official state-run National News Agency (NNA).
The meeting focused on the needs of displaced people and how to meet their requirements for shelter and humanitarian aid, as more than 800,000 people have been forced to flee their homes following Israeli bombings that have hit Beirut, its southern suburbs, south Lebanon, and the Bekaa.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, for his part, praised the $325 million humanitarian appeal launched Friday by U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres during his visit to Beirut. He outlined the process for ensuring fuel supplies with Energy and Water Minister Joe Saddi, the continuation of contacts with Telecommunications Minister Charles Hajj, as well as emergency and response plans from various ministries.
