The Israeli army warned Saturday of further attacks on medical infrastructure and ambulances in Lebanon, accusing Hezbollah of using them for military purposes, after several aid workers were killed in recent days.
Avichay Adraee, the Israeli military’s Arabic-language spokesman, said Hezbollah was extensively using ambulances and medical facilities for military activities and warned that Israel would act if the practice continued.
“We warn that the military use of medical infrastructure and ambulances must cease immediately,” the statement said. “If this practice does not stop, Israel will act against any military activity carried out by Hezbollah using these infrastructures and ambulances.”
The statement follows the deaths of several aid workers in Israeli airstrikes in recent days, including Youssef Assaf, a Lebanese Red Cross paramedic whose vehicle was hit during an Israeli strike in Majdal Zoun, in the Sour district of southern Lebanon.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said an Israeli strike on a health center in the village of Burj Qalawiyeh (Bint Jbeil district) killed at least 12 emergency workers, including doctors and nurses, on Friday night.
