Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned the Lebanese government it must disarm Hezbollah or “pay a very heavy price.”
“We [Israel] have no territorial claims against Lebanon, but we will not allow the situation that prevailed for many years, rocket fire from Lebanese territory toward the State of Israel, to repeat itself,” Katz said in a statement cited by Reuters.
“That is why we are issuing a warning: act and take steps before we take further action,” he added.
Katz also addressed Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, saying: “You pledged to implement the agreement and to disarm Hezbollah, but this has not happened.”
“We will not allow our communities or our soldiers to be put in danger, and if we have to make a choice, it will be the Lebanese government and all of Lebanon that will pay the price,” he said.
