Hezbollah isn’t limiting its attacks to Israel. From Sunday night into Monday, drones launched from Lebanon targeted British bases in Cyprus – a European Union member state currently holding the rotating presidency of the EU Council, according to Cypriot sources cited by AFP and Reuters. While Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility, its former secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah had threatened the island in 2024, shortly after the opening of the “support front for Gaza.”The attack on Cyprus comes amid a period of improved relations between Lebanon and its overseas neighbor. This puts the state in an awkward position with its new strategic ally (with whom it signed a maritime demarcation deal in November), as well as with the European Union and the British.
