The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, announced Thursday on X that he has completed his official mission in Lebanon.
"I have lived with you for more than three years — your joys and your sorrows, your resistance and your victories. I even carry on my body the mark of the unjust aggression by our vile and hateful enemy," Mr. Amani said, referring to his injury during the drone attack carried out by Israel in Lebanon in September 2024.
"Motivated by the spirit of the golden trilogy — 'army, people, resistance' — I have worked to strengthen the bridges of communication with all official, religious, political and military components, as well as with diplomatic and media figures and various entities," he added.
Mr. Amani also recalled that during his tenure, he worked to "increase trade between our two countries and activate agreements, particularly in the areas of health and culture, and to provide essential donations, especially in the energy sector."
In 2021, in the midst of Lebanon's economic and financial crisis, Hezbollah, Tehran's ally, transported Iranian fuel via Syria, spending more than $10 million in the process, according to its former leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was assassinated by Israel in September 2024.
The ambassador finally announced that he will take up a new post, without giving further details. The name of his successor at the Iranian Embassy in Lebanon is not yet known.
