BEIRUT — President Joseph Aoun is leaving Beirut on Sunday for Spain, where he is expected for a two-day official visit.
He was invited by King Felipe VI and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, whom he is scheduled to meet for "talks on bilateral relations, as well as the regional and international situation."
This is his first state visit to Spain. Foreign Minister Joe Rajji will also be part of the delegation.
Meanwhile, Energy and Water Minister Joe Saddi is traveling to Qatar on Sunday to continue discussions on Qatari initiatives aimed at supporting Lebanon's electricity sector. Doha announced $40 million in aid to the sector and launched a $360 million "economic project," likely intended for the construction of a power plant.
