Saudi Arabia on Tuesday called the UAE's support for a separatist offensive in Yemen a threat to the kingdom and regional security, hours after a Riyadh-led coalition launched strikes against the Emirati-backed forces.
The UAE's actions in Yemen "constitute a threat to the Kingdom's national security, as well as to security and stability in the Republic of Yemen and the region," read a statement by the foreign ministry published online, which added that the "the steps taken by the sisterly state of the United Arab Emirates are extremely dangerous."
The United Arab Emirates on Tuesday rebuffed accusations from Saudi Arabia that it was fanning the conflict in Yemen after Riyadh said it struck an Emirati weapons shipment destined for separatist forces.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the United Arab Emirates affirms its total rejection of the allegations related to fuelling the Yemeni conflict," government spokesperson Afra Al Hameli wrote on X.
