Badr Abdelatty informs Rubio of 'the results of his latest visit to Beirut'
On Tuesday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty informed his U.S. counterpart, Marco Rubio, of "the results of his latest visit to Beirut on Nov. 26," which took place two days after Israel assassinated Hezbollah military leader Haytham Tabataba'i in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The visit was "carried out on the instructions of the President of the Republic [Abdel Fattah al-Sissi], with the aim of supporting Lebanon and exploring ways to reduce tensions and strengthen stability, reaffirming Egypt's consistent position in favor of Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, security and stability," according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The call between Abdelatty and Rubio focused on "the situation in the Gaza Strip" and "ongoing efforts to implement President Trump's plan." On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump assured that the second stage of his peace plan would "come very soon."
The second stage "cannot begin" as long as Israel "continues to violate the agreement and shirk its commitments," said Hossam Badran, a member of Hamas' political bureau, in an interview with AFP on Tuesday.
Israeli public radio station Kan reports that the Lebanese Army is expected to announce shortly the dismantling of Hezbollah's infrastructure south of the Litani River and to demand that Israel withdraw from its five remaining positions on Lebanese territory.
Update on Damascus victinity explosion, origin still unknown
According to the SANA news agency, citing a military source, three shells of unknown origin struck the area surrounding Damascus airport, causing no casualties or material damage.
In addition, the relevant authorities have been deployed to the airport perimeter and have launched an investigation to determine the origin of the shells, the agency said.
Syria: Loud explosion heard in the vicinity of Damascus
A loud explosion was heard in the vicinity of the Syrian capitral, according to the official Syrian news agency SANA. The nature of the explosion remains unknown at this stage, and no casualties have yet been reported.
The correspondent for the Syrian channel Al Ikhbariya reported that shells of unknown origin fell on the outskirts of the Mezzeh military airport in Damascus, according to the channel's X account.
During a visit to Northern Command, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stressed that the Israeli army "must remain in the territory as a buffer zone between jihadist enemies and the inhabitants of Galilee and the Golan," according to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.
"Our role is to protect Israeli citizens from any threat, and that is what we will do," he added.
The Israeli army artillery fires two illumination flares on the outskirts of Yaroun (Bint Jbeil), according to our correspondent in the south.
Syria: 3 civilians injured by Israeli army in Quneitra
Three civilians were wounded by Israeli army fire after a patrol of five military vehicles set up a checkpoint between Khan Arnabeh and Ain Aisha in Quneitra province, southwestern Syria, the state-run SANA news agency reported.
According to the same source, Israeli soldiers also fired smoke grenades at residents.
For its part, the Israeli army claims that "riots broke out while its troops were operating in the area," during which "several suspects approached the forces and posed a threat to them," the Times of Israel reports.
The soldiers reportedly fired warning shots into the air before aiming at "the legs of two main instigators." The army added that the "riot dispersed shortly afterward" and that the troops then withdrew from the area.
China, Iran, Saudi Arabia call for 'immediate halt to Israeli aggression against Palestine, Lebanon, Syria'
China, Iran, and Saudi Arabia called for an “immediate halt to Israeli aggression against Palestine, Lebanon and Syria” following a trilateral meeting held Tuesday in Tehran, according to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry reported by Reuters.
The three countries also condemned “violations of Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement said, following the meeting, which officials from their respective foreign ministries attended.
South Lebanon: Body of victim of last open war against Israel found in Marjayoun
The Lebanese Army and civil defense discovered the remains of a man killed during the last war between Hezbollah and Israel on Monday near a pond in the village of Deir Serian (Marjayoun district), according to a source in the area cited by our correspondent in the South.
The remains are being examined to identify the victim, the source reports.
Bodies had already been found in the village when residents returned to southern Lebanon at the end of January, two months after the official end of the war, following a cease-fire agreement that came into effect on Nov. 27, 2024.
The war left at least 4,000 dead and 16,500 wounded, according to official figures from the day after the open war between Hezbollah and Israel.
Allenby crossing to reopen tomorrow for humanitarian aid to Gaza
Israel will reopen the transit of humanitarian aid to Gaza through the Allenby Bridge crossing, controlled by Israeli authorities, between Jordan and the West Bank, starting tomorrow, an Israeli security official said.
"Starting tomorrow [Wednesday], the transfer of goods and aid from Jordan to the Judea and Samaria region [the West Bank, occupied by Israel since 1967] and to the Gaza Strip will be permitted via the Allenby crossing," the official said on condition of anonymity.
The Allenby crossing had been closed to the transit of humanitarian aid to Gaza in late September after an attack by a Jordanian aid truck driver that killed two Israeli soldiers at the border crossing.
Gaza truce: No second phase as long as Israel 'continues violations': Hamas leader
The second phase of the truce agreement in the Gaza Strip cannot begin as long as Israel continues its "violations" of the cease-fire that came into effect on Oct. 10, a Hamas official told AFP on Tuesday.

Israeli airstrikes Monday night: Classes suspended at damaged public school in Jbaa
In Jbaa, in the Nabatieh district, following Monday night's bombings, the village's technical and secondary public school was heavily damaged by the blasts, according to our correspondent in the region.
As a result, classes have been temporarily suspended while the administration assesses the building's structural integrity to ensure it is not at risk of collapse.
According to videos obtained by our correspondent, windows shattered on impact, and frames were dislodged from their sockets, particularly in several classrooms.
Israeli infiltration, house demolitions in Khiam

According to residents of Khiam, in southern Lebanon, quoted by our correspondent, Israeli soldiers infiltrated the village at dawn from their position on Hamames Hill.
The Israeli army destroyed several houses in the Wadi al-Asafir neighborhood, in the southern part of the town.
Israeli army blasts house in Odaisseh
According to our correspondent in southern Lebanon, a group of Israeli soldiers infiltrated Lebanese territory on Monday night, several hundred meters from the border.
They dynamited a house located near the municipality of Odaisseh, in the Marjayoun district, before withdrawing.
Israel claims responsibility for Monday night's strikes in Iqlim al-Tuffah
The Israeli military announced early Tuesday that it had struck Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon, in a message on X, after at least six airstrikes hit Iqlim al-Tuffah overnight.
The Israeli military stated that it "struck infrastructure belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in several areas of southern Lebanon," including a launch site used for attacks against Israel, it said in a statement.
The windows of several houses in the town of Jbaa were shattered by the force of the missiles fired during the raids, according to our correspondent in the region.
