BEIRUT — Israeli aircraft were active on Tuesday over regions regularly hit by strikes since the last conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, conducting flights over southern Lebanon, the southern suburbs of Beirut, and the Bekaa Valley.
Despite the ongoing cease-fire and Pope Leo XIV’s visit, which concluded with his departure in the early afternoon.
According to witnesses, an Israeli drone was flying over the southern suburbs of Beirut as soon as the pontiff left. Our regional correspondents, Israeli fighter jets also flew at low altitude around midday over southern Lebanon, the Iqlim al-Kharroub area (Chouf), as well as the Bekaa and northern Bekaa.
Additionally, an explosion heard east of Baalbeck (northern Bekaa) on Tuesday was caused by the detonation of old unexploded munitions, likely carried out by security forces, our correspondent indicates.
During the night, an Israeli quadcopter drone reportedly took off around 1 a.m. from a new Israeli army position near Jabal al-Batt, at the border, to launch a strike on a neighborhood in Aitaroun, in the Bint Jbeil district, according to our correspondent in the south.
Despite the cease-fire of Nov. 27, 2024, Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon and other areas remain a daily occurrence.
Reporting by our regional correspondents Muntasser Abdallah (South Lebanon) and Sarah Abdallah (Bekaa).
