U.S. President Donald Trump warned Saturday that airspace over and around Venezuela should be considered “entirely closed,” amid his escalating confrontation with leftist leader Nicolás Maduro.
"To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers," Trump wrote on X, "please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY."
The statement comes as the Trump administration, in its fight against drug cartels, ramps up pressure on Venezuela with a major military deployment in the Caribbean, including the world’s largest aircraft carrier.
