Few incidents have been reported over the past 48 hours in southern Lebanon, according to our correspondent in the region, as bad weather has been affecting the country since Thursday. Some Israeli media this week raised concerns about the possibility of a new Israeli war in Lebanon.

Late Friday morning, the Israeli army fired machine guns at the outskirts of Kfar Shuba (Hasbaya district) from the Israeli site of Roueisat al-Alam. The shots damaged cars, homes, and solar panels located on the outskirts of the village. A similar incident also occurred in the mid-afternoon.

Earlier, a resident of Deir Siryan (Marjayoun) briefly blocked the road near the municipal building to protest the lack of compensation for damage to his house during recent Israeli strikes in the region. The government examined the reconstruction issue on Thursday but did not make a decision. Hezbollah insists that Lebanese authorities should finance the rebuilding, while the international community conditions any aid on the disarmament of the party.

Several Hezbollah officials spoke out again on Saturday to denounce the Israeli attacks that have killed several people in recent days. Speaking from Aitit (Sour), MP Hussein Jachi condemned “the abandonment of citizens, left to face daily Israeli attacks without any concrete measures to deter the enemy.” He questioned whether “the work of the committee responsible for the mechanism is limited to actions by the Lebanese army to control weapons south of the Litani, while the enemy enjoys full freedom to continue its assassinations.”

He called on the authorities to adopt “concrete and courageous positions, and to cooperate with the resistance to establish a common defensive strategy to end aggressions and violations, relying on the Lebanese themselves rather than on foreign actors.”

Hezbollah MP for Baalbek and former minister Hussein Hajj Hassan, speaking at another ceremony in Beirut honoring victims of Israeli strikes, said: “What is being demanded of Lebanon is exactly what is being demanded of Syria: the establishment of a demilitarized buffer zone, the continuation of occupation, the removal of all forces not only from the Resistance but also from the Lebanese state, and the imposition of the enemy’s conditions,” referring to the cease-fire concluded in November 2024, which he said Israel violates almost daily.

“The United States is entirely on Israel’s side; they are neither neutral nor fair, but they lead and drive the Zionist project in the region,” he added.

After the road blockade, an Israeli helicopter that had crashed was also found this morning in the town of Kfar Kila (Marjayoun). It was recovered by the army for inspection, according to our correspondent.

Power outages

In addition, around thirty localities in Nabatieh are without electricity due to severe weather that struck overnight Friday into Saturday. Lightning struck the power plant at the Kfar Roummane roundabout, completely disabling transformers 1 and 2, according to our correspondent citing information from Mrad Utilities Services, which handles network maintenance on behalf of Electricité du Liban (EDL) in the area.

The outage also affects line 24, which supplies water wells and local hospitals, raising concerns about potential water shortages in Nabatieh municipalities, the company said in a statement relayed via the National News Agency.

Maintenance teams dispatched to the site are assessing the damage. Repairs are expected to begin Monday morning with the help of specialized teams from the capital. Electricity will remain cut in the affected localities until the damaged transformers at the Kfar Roummane station are restored.
