Two days after its massive strikes in southern Lebanon, the Israeli army continued on Saturday its daily drone attacks on vehicles in transit, killing three people identified as Hezbollah activists.

The first deadly strike hit a car on a road near Rashaya, in southern Bekaa, killing two brothers, Hussein Said Kanaan and Mohammed Said Kanaan, originally from Shebaa (Hasbaya district), according to our correspondent in the region.

A few hours later, a similar strike took place in the village of Braasheet (Bint Jbeil), killing one additional person and injuring three lightly. The victim was identified as Khalil Karnib, from Maroun al-Ras (Bint Jbeil).

Hezbollah subsequently issued several statements paying tribute to the victims and claiming them as members of the group. The Israeli army, in turn, said in a statement that they were “involved in attempts to rebuild Hezbollah’s military infrastructure in the region” or in “arms trafficking for the party,” while sharing drone footage of their deaths.

A van hit near a hospital

These three new deaths bring to 13 the total number of victims of Israeli strikes in Lebanon in just over a week. This toll also includes a person who died on Nov. 1 from injuries sustained the previous day in another strike in southern Lebanon.

Earlier on Saturday morning, another drone strike using two missiles hit a utility van near Salah Ghandour Hospital in Bint Jbeil, southern Lebanon, injuring seven people. In addition, two bombs were dropped on a construction vehicle in Blida (Marjayoun) following another Israeli drone strike on an excavator during the night.

These two strikes, which caused material damage, are part of a long series of Israeli army attacks on construction equipment in southern Lebanon, allegedly to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its infrastructure.

Additionally, stun grenades were dropped by another drone in Mais al-Jabal (Marjayoun), while multiple drone overflights were reported across various areas of southern Lebanon.

A World Bank delegation in southern Lebanon

These new Israeli attacks took place alongside the visit of a World Bank (WB) delegation that arrived midweek to inspect several sites in southern Lebanon where it is funding reconstruction projects. The delegation had already visited the Bekaa on Thursday. In August, the Lebanese government and the WB signed a $250 million loan agreement to begin rebuilding areas devastated by more than 13 months of war between the Shiite group and Israel.

In addition, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty spoke on Saturday with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. Abdelatty reaffirmed Cairo’s “complete rejection” of “any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity” in the phone call, according to the official National News Agency (NNA). He also stressed “the need to prioritize calm and reduce tensions to preserve security and stability in Lebanon and the region.”
