For the time being, Washington continues to insist on the need to avoid escalation, but December will be decisive.

Why are these made out to be The Impossible Six? Some are obviously doable, one or two will take time. to declare that it can't be done, so they will not even try, is betraying either: a total lack of will, or else, resistance. to try all six and fail would be good enough to achieve peace… they be demonstrating good will by doing their best! And what would be the downside? "It'll very likely be difficult... grizzle, grizzle..." But you get stability and peace, and get rid of the unpredictability of Hezbollah running part of the country.
