Israeli army carries out demolition at Jabal Amel School in Houla as strikes continue

BEIRUT — The Israeli army carried out a massive demolition at Jabal Amel Intermediate School in the southern Lebanese town of Houla (Marjayoun) on Saturday, amid Israeli airstrikes, artillery fire and demolitions across southern Lebanon, according to local sources.

The army also carried out a demolition in Beit Yahoun (Bint Jbeil) around 6 a.m., while an Israeli warplane struck a house on the western outskirts of Mais al-Jabal (Marjayoun), in the Hoshin area, early Saturday.

Around 7 a.m., two Israeli airstrikes hit the outskirts of Bani Hayyan (Marjayoun) toward Tallouseh. Artillery fire targeted Wadi al-Salouqi toward Touline and the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqieh (Nabatieh), while warplanes were reported flying over south Lebanon.

Around 8 a.m., an Israeli airstrike targeted Wadi al-Hujeir (Marjayoun). Artillery fire hit the area around Tallet al-Dabsheh and Dhohat Kfar Roummane (Nabatieh), the area between Qabrikha and Bani Hayyan, and Nabatieh al-Fawqa. Warplanes also struck the outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fawqa with several missiles.

Artillery fire was also reported between Qabrikha and Bani Hayyan and on the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqieh.

The latest attacks followed a series of incidents overnight Friday. After 10 p.m., Israeli forces fired illumination flares over Majdal Zoun (Sour), while machine-gun fire targeted the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqieh.

After 11 p.m., artillery fire targeted the outskirts of Mifdoun (Nabatieh) and Baraasheet (Bint Jbeil), while Israeli military vehicles were spotted near the outskirts of Baraasheet.

Around midnight, artillery fire targeted Wadi Zibqine (Sour). Around 1 a.m., a powerful explosion was heard from the woods of Beit Yahoun toward Aita al-Jabal and in surrounding areas. Israeli forces later carried out another demolition on the outskirts of Beit Yahoun.

Artillery fire also targeted the area between Hadatha and Haris (Bint Jbeil), while machine-gun fire was reported toward Srifa (Bint Jbeil). Artillery fire also targeted Wadi al-Hujeir overnight.

Friday’s Israeli attacks included airstrikes on one town in southern Lebanon, artillery fire on 15 towns and demolitions targeting homes and buildings in five towns, according to local sources. A major Israeli army demolition in Mansouri (Sour) was also heard across western and central parts of southern Lebanon.
