'France's recognition of Palestine had become inevitable'
A former French ambassador to Syria and special adviser on geopolitics and diplomacy at the Institut Montaigne, Michel Duclos answers L’Orient-Le Jour's questions.

On Thursday, July 24, Emmanuel Macron announced that France will recognize the State of Palestine in September during the United Nations General Assembly, where he will co-chair an international conference with Saudi Arabia aimed at reviving the two-state solution.Macron had already hinted at this commitment on April 9, after a visit to Egypt where he met Palestinian women and children maimed by Israeli strikes.
