During a simple renewal of their official documents, families reportedly discovered that their "Syrian Palestinian" nationality had been changed on their official papers to "Palestinian and resident" in Syria. This is revealed by the local daily Zaman al-Wasl, which also notes "the modification of the ‘governorate of birth’ column, which previously listed areas such as Damascus, Aleppo or Daraa. It has been replaced by the term foreigner, meaning that geographic affiliation has been completely removed from birth records."
