The U.N. was able to bring about 75,000 liters of fuel into the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, “the first shipment of its kind in 130 days,” the spokesperson for the secretary-general announced Thursday, noting that this amount was far from enough to address the shortages.

“Our partners and we need hundreds of thousands of liters of fuel every day to maintain vital, life-saving operations, which means the volume that entered yesterday is not even enough to cover a single day's energy needs,” Stéphane Dujarric specified, warning that crucial services would have to “shut down if larger volumes do not enter the Gaza Strip immediately.”
