Yemen's Houthi rebels on Wednesday claimed responsibility for a deadly attack launched two days earlier on a cargo ship off the Yemeni coast — the second such incident in 24 hours targeting vessels in the Red Sea, a critical artery for global trade.
"The naval forces of the Yemeni armed forces targeted the vessel ETERNITY C," said Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis. He stated the attack was carried out in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza and claimed the ship was headed toward Eilat, in southern Israel.
