Iran expanded on Saturday the reopening of its airspace to foreign carriers flying over its territory, but flights remain suspended in many regions, particularly in Tehran, on the fifth day of a cease-fire with Israel.
Iranian airspace was completely closed on June 13 after Israel launched an unprecedented attack against Iran.
On Wednesday, flights gradually resumed but only in the eastern part of the country. Elsewhere, they remain suspended, especially in the capital Tehran, where both airports are closed.
“The airspace over the central and western parts of the country is now reopened but only for international overflights,” said Majid Akhavan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Transport, quoted by the government news agency Irna.
No date has been given for a full resumption of flights across the country.
