SAIDA — An Israeli drone launched two missiles on Wednesday afternoon at an uninhabited house in the southern Lebanese village of Barish, in Sour district, according to L'Orient Today's correspondent in the region, citing security sources. There were no casualties reported in the incident.
Later in the afternoon, an Israeli drone targeted a motorbike near the eastern entrance of the town of Barish. Ambulances rushed to the scene, and one person in critical condition was transported to the hospital.
The drone strike, which occurred around 2 p.m. was the first reported Israeli attack on Lebanon for the day. Israel had been targeting Lebanon on a near-daily basis since agreeing to a cease-fire in mid-November, and its attacks had seemingly increased leading up to Israel's attack on Iran on Friday, and then noticeably decreased following.
However, on Wednesday morning, an Israeli drone dropped leaflets in the form of banknotes over the villages of Mais al-Jabal (Marjayoun district) and Aitaroun (Bint Jbeil district), urging the population to "not accept the yellow money," meaning Hezbollah, which funds much of the reconstruction in the South, following Israel's demolition of several villages. "Do not be fooled, do not accept the yellow money," the leaflets say in Arabic.
On Tuesday, Israeli forces also launched leaflets directed at fishermen in South Lebanon, particularly in the ports of Sour and Naqoura, threatening them not to approach the Israeli maritime borders. Israel has kidnapped several fishermen in Lebanese waters in recent months, off the coast of Lebanon's southernmost town, Naqoura.
