Since launching its attacks on Iran on Friday, the Israeli army has killed 585 people and wounded 1,326 others, according to a Washington-based NGO cited by the Associated Press.

The organization, Human Rights Activists, said that by crosschecking local reports within Iran with a network of sources it has developed across the country, it has identified 239 people — nearly half of the total killed in the last five days — as civilians, and 126 as security personnel. The remaining 220 have not yet been identified by the group, which also provided detailed casualty figures during the 2022 Women, Life, Freedom protests triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini.

Iran has not been publishing regular death tolls and has been known, in previous conflicts or bouts of violence, to downplay the number of casualties. Its latest update was issued Monday and put the death toll at 224 people killed and 1,277 others wounded.

So far in Israel, against which Iran has launched around 400 missiles in retaliation, 24 people have been killed.
