Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Monday for the "immediate cessation of hostilities" between Israel and Iran, expressing "their deep concern over the ongoing escalation" between the two rival powers.

"The leaders voiced their support for the immediate cessation of hostilities and the resolution of disputes, including those related to the Iranian nuclear program, solely through diplomatic means," the Kremlin said in a statement released following a call between the two leaders.
