BEIRUT — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that "a regime change in Iran could be a consequence" of the ongoing conflict, which began with Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear and military facilities.

In an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu suggested that "a regime change in Iran could be a consequence of the ongoing operation." He also confirmed that he had informed the U.S. administration in advance of the strikes, saying, "The information we had, which we shared with the United States, indicated that Iran was attempting to use its uranium to manufacture nuclear weapons."

Two U.S. officials, speaking to Reuters, claimed that Donald Trump had vetoed an Israeli plan to assassinate Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Netanyahu responded, "I am not going to comment on that."

Additionally, Netanyahu stated that "American pilots also shot down drones directed towards Israel."
