Iran condemned on Monday as an act of "piracy" Israel's interception of a humanitarian boat bound for the Gaza Strip with international activists on board.

"The attack on this boat is considered a form of piracy under international law," said the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baqaei, during a weekly press briefing. The Freedom Flotilla Coalition claimed that the interception, which occurred before dawn, took place in international waters.
