A Hezbollah fighter was killed Tuesday evening in an Israeli drone strike on a scooter in Yater, in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon. The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed the death of one person, and the party identified him as Nabil Mohammad Balaghi, a fighter from its ranks, in its official funeral announcement.
An "Israeli enemy strike" on a motorcycle killed a man in Yater, in the Bint Jbeil district, according to a Ministry statement released Tuesday night.
In turn, the Israeli army confirmed on Wednesday that it had "eliminated a commander of the Hezbollah Yater unit." This man had, "during the war, implemented terrorist plans against the Israeli army and state," it said. Recently, since the 'cease-fire,' he was "trying to reestablish this unit," according to the Israeli army's Arabic-speaking spokesperson Avichay Adraee on X.
Since the 'cease-fire' between Lebanon and Israel took effect on Nov. 27, 2024, at least 166 people have been killed in Israeli strikes and fire in Lebanon, according to our count.
On Tuesday, a man, identified by Israel as a member of the elite Hezbollah unit, the al-Radwan force, succumbed to his injuries after being victimized by a drone strike in Majdal Zoun, in the Sour district, a few hours earlier.
Israel continues to carry out almost daily attacks on Lebanon, claiming to target Hezbollah positions and fighters, despite the November cease-fire agreement to end more than a year of hostilities with Hezbollah, including two months of all-out war. According to the terms of the agreement, only U.N. peacekeepers and the Lebanese Army are to be deployed in southern Lebanon, where Israel has nevertheless maintained forces in five positions.
Lebanon regularly calls on the international community to pressure Israel to end its attacks and withdraw its troops from its territory. Clashes between Hezbollah and Israel, sparked in the wake of the Gaza War in October 2023, turned into open warfare between September and November 2024, resulting in more than 4,000 deaths in Lebanon. The party emerged very weakened from this confrontation.
