In 10 days, between May 15 and May 25, Israeli strikes targeting displaced persons camps in the Gaza Strip have forced more than 180,000 people to flee again, according to a report by the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) Cluster, an assistance sector within the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Operational Framework in the event of a migration crisis.

"This new wave of displacements comes as direct attacks on displaced persons' sites have become frequent, notably deadly strikes on tents in the al-Mawassi area and a school sheltering displaced families in the center of the Palestinian enclave," the CCCM stated in a press release.

The Palestinian Civil Defense reported Sunday that an Israeli strike on a tent in al-Mawasi killed 10 people, including a child and seven women, according to AFP. On Monday, 33 people were killed in an Israeli strike targeting a school serving as a refuge for the displaced.

"The global CCCM Cluster unequivocally and in the strongest terms condemns the attacks on displaced persons' sites. These sites are meant to protect displaced civilians, in accordance with the continuous obligation, under international humanitarian law, to ensure their safety and dignity at all times," the statement added.

Since the resumption on March 18 of Israeli bombings on this Palestinian territory, more than 260 sites housing some 125,000 people have been targeted by forced evacuation orders, forcing their occupants to leave, the same source continued.

The CCCM calls for "an immediate cessation of attacks on displaced persons sites, unhindered and lasting humanitarian access, as well as the protection of civilians, wherever they are."
