State prosecutor of Israel has stated that the appointment of the new head of the Shin Bet, the internal security agency, by Benjamin Netanyahu was "illegitimate and illegal," in a letter to the Prime Minister, a copy of which was seen Tuesday by AFP.

"Your decision regarding Major General Zini, made in a situation of conflict of interest and in contradiction with the conclusions of the judgment as well as the current legal guidelines, is illegitimate and illegal," declares Gali Baharav-Miara, in this document. Netanyahu appointed Major General David Zini as the next head of the Shin Bet on Thursday.
