BEIRUT — At least one person was killed and three others injured in Israeli attacks in several southern Lebanese towns on Monday. "An Israeli drone strike targeting the outskirts" of the border village of Houla "left one person dead," the Lebanese Health Ministry said in a statement.
Two people were also injured by an Israeli drone strike targeting a motorcycle in Srebbin, some five kilometers from the Israeli border, and a third by "Israeli enemy fire" in the border town of Kfar Kila, according to the source.
The Israeli military also launched airstrikes near Bouday, a village in the Bekaa Valley located about 15 kilometers west of Baalbeck.
According to L'Orient Today's correspondent in the Bekaa, the strikes came shortly after Israeli gunfire injured a person in Kfar Kila, a border village in the Marjayoun district. No casualties were immediately reported from the Bouday strikes, and the Israeli army has not claimed responsibility for the attack.
Soon after, an Israeli drone targeted a vehicle in the village of Dhaira in the Sour district, damaging the car, according to L'Orient Today's correspondent in the South.
In a separate incident, Israeli machine gun fire wounded an individual in Kfar Kila, striking them in the shoulder. The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed that a “citizen was wounded” by Israeli fire in the village.
Despite a cease-fire agreement reached on Nov. 27, 2024, between Israel and Hezbollah, Israeli attacks continue in south Lebanon and the Bekaa, with Israel claiming to target Hezbollah leaders and infrastructure.
In mid-April, the U.N. reported that more than 70 civilians had been killed in near-daily strikes since the cease-fire. According to L'Orient Today's count, 159 people have been killed in the ongoing attacks and bombardments.
The previous weekend saw a series of airstrikes, including a fatal one Saturday morning that killed a vehicle driver. On Sunday, a strike on Beit Yahoun wounded two people, including a Lebanese soldier hit by shrapnel.
