BEIRUT — An Israeli drone targeted a car on Sunday near a Lebanese Army position in Beit Yahoun, in the Bint Jbeil district, injuring the driver and a Lebanese Army soldier, a source in the village’s municipality told our correspondent in South Lebanon, Muntasser Abdallah.
The Lebanese Army said in a statement that the soldier was moderately wounded in the strike.
According to the source, relayed by our correspondent, the car was not directly hit by the missile. Instead, the missile exploded nearby, and fragments struck the vehicle.
Earlier Sunday, our correspondent reported that the Israeli army swept through an area called Jidar, southeast of the village of Mais al-Jabal in the Marjayoun district. Israeli warplanes flew over southern Lebanon, and Israeli drones were spotted over Saida and neighboring villages throughout the morning. According to local media outlets, Israeli drones also flew over Beirut and its southern suburbs.
At about 4 a.m. Sunday, our correspondent reported that Israeli drones flew at low altitudes over Iqlim al-Tuffah, Nabatieh, Deir al-Zahrani, Zefta, Nmairieh and Doueir.
Additionally, shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, from a position on al-Hamamas Hill south of Khiam, the Israeli army fired machine guns while combing the outskirts of the Khiam plain.
Despite a cease-fire agreement reached in late November 2024 — following more than 13 months of conflict between Hezbollah and Israel — Israeli strikes have continued on a near-daily basis in southern Lebanon.
